American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–1 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Crust Never Sleeps at (828) 633-1550; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is crustneversleeps.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Love everything about this place. Dawn and Jonathan are always so kind and open to feedback. I absolutely love Dawn’s creativity -and the pastries she makes! The morning buns and molasses cookies are to die for!

I had read reviews but honestly this was probably the best bakery goods I’ve had everything I ate was perfectly flavored and texture on point. Hubby even said it too and he’s way pickier eater than I am. It’s super small and so if you want to get everything get there early. The toffee cheesecake bar I forgot to ask if it had nuts but felt a nut texture so I only took one bite but hubby said it was absolutely delicious. Brownie was perfectly moist and the best brownie I’ve ever tasted and texture. Lemon cake was also one of the best we both have ever tasted right amount of lemon tart to sweetness. The jalapeΓ±o bread pretzel combination went so well. I heated it up in the microwave and was even better. I took off the jalapeΓ±os but gave the bread the right amount of heat spiciness for me.

Unbelievably delicious bread, pastries, cookies.... Stopped here on a whim on my way home from the outlets to get a little snack and left with a box of savory, a box of sweet treats, and a loaf of bread. Literally everything I have tasted so far is delicious. Ginger molasses cookie and mint chocolate cookie, divine. I'm in love with the pizza pretzel and don't get me started on the morning bun. So flaky, light and texture is outstanding on every single thing. I've been cutting off pieces and trying everything. Absolutely fantastic, I will be back!

This is Asheville’s best hidden gem. After trying many pastries from various bakeries, I can say that this one is going to be my go-to from now on. The place is quaint, and run by very kind people. We wanted to try everything. The chocolate croissant is the best I’ve ever had. Peach cream cheese croissant was delicious as well. Everything was delicious - especially paired with coffee. This is primarily a to-go order/pickup place, as they do not have inside seating. Four pastries ran me around $31. Highly recommend. We’ll be back :)

A wonderful experience each time we visit! We came in for a loaf of sandwich sourdough bread and we were absolutely delighted to discover so many extra treats. Chocolate croissants, salty pretzels, almond bear claws, and cinnamon rolls are my favorites! I highly recommend the honey flaxseed, sourdough, cinnamon raisin, and regular sourdough (they even slice the loaves of bread for the perfect slice for a sandwich!). I’ve enjoyed stopping by each week and visiting with the bakers/owners. They are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The greatest challenge of visiting The Crust Never Sleeps is deciding which of the delicious baked goods to take home!
